Breast Reduction in Baltimore, MD

If you think you would better enjoy life with smaller, lighter breasts, breast reduction surgery at Belcara Health may be a good option for you. Our breast reduction surgeons in Baltimore can help you regain the freedom to exercise comfortably, wear the clothes you like, and participate in activities without being concerned with how your breasts look or feel.

When should a breast reduction be considered?

The choice to have breast reduction is personal, and women choose this procedure for many reasons. If any of the following sounds familiar, we encourage you to think about breast reduction surgery:

  • Your back, neck, or shoulders are frequently in pain, and you have trouble breathing deeply.
  • You feel self-conscious about the size of your breasts.
  • You would like to stop unwanted attention due to your breasts.
  • Bras are very uncomfortable due to chafing and leaving painful marks on your shoulders.
  • You feel limited in your clothing options because of your big or sagging breasts.
  • Sports bras do nothing to improve the comfort of exercise.

For many of our patients, a combination of these issues led them to have this life-enhancing surgery, which can improve both physical comfort and self-esteem: their backs are no longer in pain, posture improves, activity becomes more comfortable, and they’re thrilled with how they look and feel in clothes. In fact, we frequently hear from our patients after their breast reduction, “I only wish I did this sooner.”

We examine a number of things when deciding your ideal breast size after surgery, including your natural body and frame size, as well as your desired outcome with breast reduction. It is critical to create a breast shape and size that is natural-looking and proportionate to your body.

Our surgeons will also address any asymmetry between your breasts and nipples to give you a balanced, aesthetically pleasing shape. During your consultation, we will help you understand what to expect from your breast reduction procedure.

Does breast reduction include a breast lift?

If you have extremely large breasts, it’s likely that you’re not so happy with their shape either. You also will likely have a fair amount of sagging. Your Baltimore breast surgeon can include a breast lift to re-position your breasts and provide a more youthful, beautiful breast contour—perhaps for the very first time!

Can liposuction be used for a breast reduction?

If you have extra fat around your breasts, liposuction can help to improve the overall contour and appearance of your new breasts. Keep in mind, however, that liposuction will only address fatty tissue, not glandular tissue or extra skin. While all 3 concerns are addressed during breast reduction surgery, liposuction is best used to enhance your results and create an overall improved appearance.

What does the breast reduction procedure involve?

Breast reduction typically takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete, depending on your individual needs. This surgery will be performed on an outpatient basis with general anesthesia.

Your surgeon will remove and sculpt excess fat, glandular tissue and skin to reduce the size and reshape your new smaller breast. Additionally, the nipple and areola may be moved to a more lifted, youthful position. While you will experience some swelling after surgery, most patients see the improved shape and smaller size of their breasts right away.

Where will the breast reduction surgery take place?

Most breast reduction patients elect to have their procedures performed in our on-site surgery center. Our 5-star facility, the Clarkview Surgical Center, was designed with the safety, comfort, privacy, and convenience of our patients in mind. It features state-of-the-art technology and meets the most rigorous safety standards. We are proud to be one of the few outpatient surgical facilities to earn AAAHC accreditation, as well as certifications from Medicare and the state of Maryland. Because safety is our first concern, all surgical procedures are performed with board-certified anesthesiologists and registered nurses.

What can I expect during my breast reduction surgery recovery?

You will be happy to know that many of our patients return to daily activities within the first 7 days after breast reduction surgery, including resuming work if they hold a desk job.

It is normal to experience some bruising, swelling and tenderness after surgery, but these symptoms will resolve within the first several weeks. You will need to rest at home for the initial 1 to 3 days. While all patients heal differently, you should expect the following with your recovery:

  • We recommend taking it easy in bed the day of surgery.
  • Limit your activity for the next 2 days after surgery.
  • Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity for around seven to ten days.
  • With your surgeon permission, you can return to your job within the first week.
  • You’ll likely need to wear a  supportive sports bra for a couple of weeks after surgery.
  • Most aerobic exercise can be resumed within 2 to 4 weeks.

How much does a breast reduction cost in Baltimore, MD?

We understand that having a general range of procedure prices can be helpful so we are happy to provide estimated price ranges for the plastic surgery procedures we perform.  The price range for a breast reduction in Baltimore is $8,000- $9,000. However, it is important to note that these price ranges are general estimates only.
