The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) recently released its annual multi-specialty statistical data this month. The big news is the significant increase in procedures for men. “The number of men flocking to plastic surgeons for both surgical and nonsurgical procedures continues to increase dramatically and are up 43% this year alone,” states the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Since 2010, they have found the following increases:
Surgical:
- Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) – up 34%
- Male Breast Reduction – up 33%
- Facelift – up 44%
Nonsurgical:
- Botulinum Toxin (Botox) – up 84%
- Hyaluronic Acid – up 94%
- Nonsurgical skin tightening – up 37%
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) – up 44%
Given the challenging and sometimes ageist job market – men, like women, are starting to consider their options to maintain a healthy, youthful, energetic appearance. “At Belcara Health, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of men seeking ways to improve their health and appearance,” states Dr. Michael Cohen, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. “In addition to traditional treatments for men, such as hair restoration and male breast reduction, more and more men are coming to Belcara Health with an interest in eyelid surgeries, facelifts, injectables, products and body contouring procedures.”
