Wrinkle and Frown Lines: Fraxel Laser Treatment Baltimore, Maryland

Skin wrinkles typically result from natural aging, genetics and sun damage. Smoking, dry skin, poor hydration, and several other factors may contribute to the development of unwanted lines and wrinkles.

Two of the most popular treatments are dermal fillers and Botox. Dermal fillers and Botox can be used to achieve outstanding and long-lasting results for women and men. Liquid facelifts are an alternative option that isn’t as invasive and provides the same, rejuvenating results.

Botox

Botox is an FDA approved muscle relaxer that diminishes wrinkles associated with motion. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. Botox will block the conduction of nerve impulses to muscles, causing a form of muscle relaxation in the area injected. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smooths out and the lines begin to fade.

Dermal Fillers

Cosmetic dermal fillers are injectable agents that are placed under the skin to restore the skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Some fillers can provide longer lasting results, some allow for more precision with fine lines, and others can gradually bring the face into better balance, creating an overall rejuvenated appearance. Dermal fillers can be used to smooth out superficial wrinkles and medium folds of the face and can soften an aging appearance.

Lasers

One of the most popular treatments for the rejuvenation of aging skin and for reducing lines and wrinkles is laser skin resurfacing. Fractional ablative resurfacing lasers create an array of microscopic wounds at deep dermal depths surrounded by normal tissue, which allow for rapid healing of the laser-treated areas.

Non-ablative fractional resurfacing results are less robust, but have minimal downtime, whereas ablative fractional resurfacing have variable degrees of downtime, but the results are more substantial. Our laser specialists will determine which laser treatment will best meet your needs. Many patients opt to combine the laser modalities, using ablative resurfacing for difficult wrinkles and treating the rest of the face with fractional lasers.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are another great way to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines. By using carefully selected chemical solutions, this treatment will slough and peel away the top layers of the skin and encourage the growth of new skin filled with more collagen. We recommend a series of chemical peels to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and other signs of aging to restore your skin’s surface to a smoother and softer state.
