About our Baltimore blepharoplasty surgery options
Eyelid surgery is meant to open the eyes to correct an angry or worried appearance. It can also help remove puffiness and dark circles to achieve a more rested look. Depending on what your eyelid surgery goals are, there are a few different types of blepharoplasty procedure options:
Hooded and upper eyelid surgery
For those who want to open their eyes to correct an angry or worried appearance
Hooded eyelid surgery might be what you’re looking for if you have heavy “hooded” upper eyelids due to genetics or aging.
An upper eyelid surgery (upper blepharoplasty) can remove the excess skin, fat, and muscle to open up your eyes and give you a brighter, refreshed appearance. Through incisions hidden in the natural crease of your eyelids, our surgeons work with careful precision to achieve your desired improvement while maintaining your natural appearance.
Lower eyelid surgery
For those who want to remove puffiness & dark circles for a rested appearance
Puffiness underneath your eyes can make you look constantly tired or years older than you actually are, which can occur in patients as young as their early 30’s.
Lower eyelid surgery (lower blepharoplasty) can restore a more youthful appearance by removing or redistributing excess fat to smooth out the area underneath your eye.
Combination of upper and lower eyelid surgery
For those who want to take years off their appearance
Many patients can benefit from a combination of upper and lower blepharoplasty surgery. By addressing sagging, wrinkled skin on the upper eyelids, removing excess fat, and smoothing the skin underneath the eyes, this procedure can achieve dramatic improvements for a more beautiful eyelid contour.
Who is a good candidate for eyelid surgery in Maryland?
Patients considering any type of eyelid surgery should be in good general health and have a realistic understanding of what can be accomplished with a blepharoplasty procedure. Patients with active eye conditions or systemic diseases affecting the eyes may not be good candidates for eyelid surgery. During your initial consultation, your board-certified blepharoplasty surgeon will discuss your concerns, goals, medical history, and expected results with you and determine the best treatment plan to meet your needs.

What does eyelid surgery involve?
When you opt to get your eyelid surgery at Belcara Health, our Maryland blepharoplasty surgeons personalize your treatment to address your unique needs. Every blepharoplasty surgery varies from patient to patient depending on each person’s anatomy and specific concerns.
How are upper eyelid lift procedures performed?
Upper blepharoplasty surgery is performed using an incision that is strategically placed in a crease of the upper eyelid skin. Through this incision, excess skin, fat, and muscle may be removed to help rejuvenate the upper eyelid.
How are lower eyelid lift procedures performed?
Lower blepharoplasty surgery can be performed using an incision in the skin placed in a skin crease just under the eyelashes or an incision that is placed in the conjunctiva (inner lining) of the lower eyelid. The placement of the lower eyelid incision depends significantly on an individual patient’s anatomy.
Where will my blepharoplasty procedure take place?
Most patients elect to have their blepharoplasty procedure performed on-site at our local Baltimore eyelid surgery center. Our 5-star facility, the Clarkview Surgical Center, was designed with the safety, comfort, privacy, and convenience of our patients in mind. It features state-of-the-art technology and meets the most rigorous safety standards.
We are proud to be one of the few outpatient Maryland eyelid surgical facilities to earn AAAHC accreditation, as well as certifications from Medicare and the state of Maryland. Because safety is our first concern, all blepharoplasty procedures are performed with board-certified anesthesiologists and registered nurses.
What Is the typical eyelid surgery recovery time?
Every patient’s blepharoplasty surgery recovery time is different and depends upon the extent of their personal treatment plan. Your surgeon will give you thorough instructions tailored to your individual case. In general, though, blepharoplasty patients can expect the following:
- Rest in bed the day of surgery and limit activity for the next 3-5 days.
- Avoid strenuous activities for about 1 to 2 weeks.
- Typically, you can return to work within 7 to 10 days.
- Wear sunglasses and protect your eyes from sun and wind.
Following your eyelid surgery, you will be able to rest in the comfort of your own home. If your procedure is done under anesthesia, you must have someone to drive you home after surgery. It may take several hours for the anesthesia medication to wear off, so expect grogginess.
You may experience some bruising or swelling within the first few days of surgery; these typically resolve in 1-2 weeks. You may also find your eyes tire more easily for the first few weeks, so plan to take frequent breaks throughout the day.
How much does eyelid surgery cost in Maryland?
We understand that having a general range of procedure prices can be helpful, so we are happy to provide estimated price ranges for our eyelid lifts. However, it is important to note that these price ranges are general estimates only.
The Average Price Range for a Maryland blepharoplasty procedure costs between $3,500 – $7,500
The best way to learn about Maryland blepharoplasty pricing is to consult directly with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.
During your consultation, your blepharoplasty surgeon will listen carefully to your concerns and goals and assess your medical history, lifestyle, and anatomy. Together, you and your surgeon will review all your treatment options and develop a personalized plan that meets all your needs. Only then are we able to provide an accurate price quote for your type of eyelid surgery, which will include:
- All visits before and after the procedure
- Operating Room time and supplies
- Surgeon’s fee
- Anesthesia fees
- All medical devices, implants, and support materials
Will insurance pay for blepharoplasty surgery?
In cases where peripheral vision is restricted due to excess, drooping upper eyelid skin, a functional upper eyelid lift surgery can be performed to remove the excess skin and improve vision. Insurance may cover a portion of the cost of this type of blepharoplasty procedure. Our office will work with your insurance company to determine the scope of your benefits.
Financing & Payment Options
Obtaining the funds for elective procedures and products can sometimes be difficult, especially in these challenging economic times. At Belcara Health, we have a dedicated financing department, designed to help you get the financing you need, for the procedures you want.

At Belcara Health, our goal is to help you achieve a naturally youthful appearance that is long-lasting. In our experience, a balanced, comprehensive approach helps patients achieve their goals most effectively. Each patient has unique needs and frequently other procedures are combined with eyelid surgery for a more complete rejuvenation, including the following:
- Injectables such as BOTOX or Fillers can smooth wrinkles or add volume to refine features.
- A fat transfer procedure can help restore facial volume while simultaneously improving skin quality
- Laser resurfacing or chemical peel treatments can improve skin tone and texture around the eyes.
- A Facelift or Neck lift procedure, performed at the same time as an eyelid lift can address more advanced sagging skin in the cheeks, jowl line, or neck.
