Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup, also called “micro-pigmentation,” is designed to enhance your natural beauty.  It is a wonderful solution for women with make-up allergies, have difficulty applying makeup or those who are simply tired of daily makeup application and wish to look well-groomed at all times. Because it’s like a cosmetic tattoo, the effects won’t smudge while you’re sleeping, swimming or exercising. Common applications of permanent makeup include:

  • Accentuating the eyes, allowing you to look your best with the least amount of time and effort, even during exercise or first thing in the morning.
  • Enhancing eyebrows that have too little or uneven hair growth.
  • Enhancing or defining lips
  • Disguising a facial or body scar.
  • Simulating a natural nipple-areola complex after breast reconstruction.

Permanent makeup is achieved by embedding pigment beneath the skin to add permanent color. The procedure involves the use of a hand-held device that punctures the skin hundreds of times per minute with a very thin needle and pushes the pigment into the desired location.  The pigments used for permanent makeup are available in a wide variety of colors, and can be mixed to match, highlight or compliment your skin tone or hair color. At Belcara Health, we only use organic, safe, FDA-approved pigment and all our technicians licensed and experienced.

Permanent makeup procedures are relatively quick. There is no downtime after the treatment and most patients are able to resume normal activities within 24 hours. Mild discomfort during the procedure can be avoided by using topical anesthesia.

Immediate and Long Term Results

Immediately after your procedure, your permanent makeup results may look somewhat strong. This is due to excess color remaining in the outermost layers of skin. The color will soften within a few days during the healing process as the upper layers of epidermis slough off and are replaced by new epidermal cells.

While your permanent makeup results last for many years, they may begin to fade over time.  Several factors may contribute to this fading, including environmental, procedural and your personal skin type. Sun exposure fades color. The amount and color of pigment deposits you receive can affect the length of time that permanent makeup looks its best; very natural looking applications are likely to require a touch-up before more dramatic ones for this reason. Also, skin tones are a factor in color value changes over time.

At Belcara Health, we are dedicated to helping you achieve the excellent results you desire. If you have any further questions about Permanent Makeup, please schedule a consultation today.
