Dr. Patrick Byrne, Rhinoplasty Specialist at Belcara Health, was featured in The Baltimore Sun on July 31, 2011, about his nonprofit Face Forward Foundation. Their mission is to provide free treatment to correct cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children in Nicaragua and other developing countries.
During his undergraduate years, he had promised himself that if he ever had the good fortune to go into medicine and become a doctor, he would do something for the under-served. For the past 3 years Dr. Byrne has organized trips to Nicaragua to perform facial surgeries for children in need. In his most recent trip, this past May, he and his team consulted with more than 80 patients and operated on 60 children in just five days.
“Our goal is to devise strategies to provide the same level of comprehensive care to poor kids overseas as we give to the kids in the United States,” said Byrne. “If we can fix one child at a time, we can give that kid at least a chance at a normal life… It’s incredible.”
We are proud to have Dr. Byrne as a part of our team and applaud him for his amazing work. Click here to see the full Baltimore Sun article. http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/bs-gl-goodworks-face-forward-20110729,0,4353064.story
