The board-certified surgeons at Belcara Health employ a unique blend of artistry and meticulous technique, emphasizing proportion and form to help patients reshape their figures in ways they never thought possible.
The most comprehensive body lift surgery is the belt lipectomy or body lift (circumferential torsoplasty). Addressing the mid-section, our surgeons elevate and tighten deep tissue and remove the excess skin and fat around the torso, resulting in a re-shaping of the abdomen, hips, back, buttocks, and outer thighs. Not everyone will require a full circumferential torsoplasty and may be a candidate for a less extensive standard or extended abdominoplasty. If desired, a Brazilian butt lift can be incorporated into the procedure to achieve that fuller, rounded appearance.
The upper thigh is another problem spot for sagging skin after weight loss. To improve the contours of this area, our surgeons may perform a thigh lift (thighplasty) on the area above the knee to the groin. If excess fat is a problem in this area, liposuction can be performed prior to the thigh lift surgery.
Liposuction </body/liposuction/> is performed through a small incision placed inconspicuously. A saline solution combined with adrenaline and anesthetic is injected into the area to reduce bleeding and ensure patient comfort and safety. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is then moved back and forth to loosen the extra fat cells. The dislodged fat is then sucked out of the body through a surgical vacuum or syringe attached to the cannula. Our surgeons also use an ultrasonic-assisted liposuction technique that applies ultrasonic energy to help loosen fat prior to suctioning.
The effect of significant weight loss is most noticeable on the face in patients with sagging necks and jowls and sunken cheeks. A facelift is an effective way to tighten loose skin, particularly in the neck area. Injecting fat into the cheeks using fat transfer can add tissue volume. Patients often have both procedures, which result in a younger, firmer appearance.
The upper arm from the axilla to the elbow is particularly vulnerable to sagging skin after weight loss. Arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) reshapes the under-portion of the arm. This surgery is often performed with underarm surgery (axilloplasty) to remove the excess skin and fatty tissue that may hang down. The result of upper arm surgery is a more toned and proportionate appearance.
Breast lift </breast/breast-lift/> surgery (mastopexy) involves removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding breast tissue in an effort to reshape and support the new breast contour. This procedure may be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation to give volume to the breasts. Breast augmentation is done with the placement of a saline or silicone breast implant. Women who have lost significant weight may also consider breast reduction surgery. The elimination of sagging breasts not only improves appearance but is also more comfortable.
You may be a good candidate for body contouring if you’ve experienced massive weight loss and have excess skin or tissue preventing you from achieving your ideal body shape. Candidates should be at or near their ideal weight, in good overall health, and have realistic expectations about the outcomes. Women planning future pregnancies or individuals with certain medical conditions may need to delay surgery. Your surgeon will evaluate your candidacy during a thorough consultation.
Recovery from body contouring procedures typically requires 2–4 weeks of downtime, depending on the extent of the surgery. You may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed medications. Compression garments are often recommended to minimize swelling and support healing. You should avoid strenuous activities during the initial recovery period and follow your surgeon’s guidelines closely for the best results. Regular follow-ups ensure a smooth recovery process and help you achieve the best possible results from your procedure.

In some cases, excess skin removal can reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
Most patients can resume light activities within 2–3 weeks while avoiding strenuous exercise for 4-6 weeks.
While scars are a natural part of surgery, our surgeons use advanced techniques to minimize their visibility.
Non-surgical options like CoolSculpting focus on removing unwanted fat cells. CoolTone is another non-invasive treatment that stimulates muscle contractions to improve muscle tone. In contrast, surgical body contouring addresses excess skin and tissue that often result from significant weight loss, providing more comprehensive, dramatic shaping and tightening.
